Call for bloggers in Singapore: Preview of Yishun and Choa Chu Kang public libraries

I've been given permission to issue this open call for bloggers in Singapore, interested in attending preview sessions for two relocated public libraries: Yishun Public Library and Choa Chu Kang Public Library.

You'd get to tour the library (or libraries -- you can attend one or both) before the official opening. Check out Have a first look at what's new on the shelves.

You'll be able to take photos and videos (without the usual crowd jostling you for space and camera angles).

The library manager and staff would be there to answer your questions, and receive your feedback and suggestions. Refreshments will be served.

  1. Hi Rambler,

You might like to clarify what you mean by "Check out what's new on the shelves" - you don't mean "borrow", or do you?

I didn't know about the temporary closing of the Choa Chu Kang public library, so I was there just 2 days ago, just to return my books. I was dismayed that they did not have some on-site contingency for people like me to return the books ... and my books were due. I had no choice but to take the MRT to West Mall, to return the books! I wasn't very happy about it.

  3. @ Singapore Kopitiam - thank you for the plug.

@ QQ*Llibrarian - corrected! You're right, it could have been interpreted wrongly.

@ Anonymous - good thing you had another option of a nearby library. The announcement was made available via the library websites, and also posters in the library. I believe they might have included it in the loan receipt. Anyway you might want to give your feedback to the library via the website. I've directed your comment to the manager as well.

Hi there! Looking forward to CCK library opening!

But i reckon it would still be smaller in books volume as compared to Jurong East branch. However, I hope they would carry more books this time round as compared to before the closure for renovation.

When will CCK library be opening? Oh, i'll just check the website. Nvm, thanks! Cheers.

  9. The library@Yishun looks nice. BUT, the PA announcement to remind proper use of library which comes on every few minutes is very distracting.

Also, There isnt enough seat for any readers.
